HISTORY

The Mysterious Chords are a 3 piece acoustic band playing original material. Based in Dublin Ireland, they were formed in 2002 by Pat Fagan.

Pat writes all music and lyrics for the band, and as a classical guitarist, teacher and director of The Dublin School of Guitar has brought a wealth of experience and technical ability to the songwriting.

The Mysterious Chords have been together in their current lineup since 2005, with Pat on lead vocals, Troy Devaney singing harmony and Kieran Cox playing guitar. Troy also plays guitar on a number of songs.

The group play regularly around Ireland with at least one gig per month somewhere in the country. (Check our LIVE page for details)

The group's influences are, among others, Lennon and McCartney, Cat Stevens, Paul Simon, Neil Young and David Bowie to J.S. Bach and Julian Bream.

If you are a fan of the acoustic guitar and want to hear rapid fingerstyle as well as soothing strumming along with excellent harmony singing, this band is a must.

"This Dublin band's formula for success: enchanting melodies, pitch perfect harmonies and beautiful acoustic guitars"
The Metro. Dublin Ireland, January 2007

“….densely melodic, and built on a river of elaborate, fluid guitar playing; complex, yet easy on the ear.”
Hot Press October 2007

“…the interplay between the guitars is very attractive, and the vocal harmonies are really sweet, making The Mysterious Chords sound like an acoustic Blue Oyster Cult.”
“… The Mysterious Chords are a welcome departure from the hordes of David Gray wannabees.”

Musician.ie August 2007

“… if these guys aren’t signed in the next year I’ll eat my hat.”
Michelle Harding, 2FM - Acoustic Highway June 2007
